Blue Monster at Trump National Doral kind to some ruthless to others

DORAL, Fla. — Spend zillions of dollars on the place, and you get to call it Trump National. Or maybe you’re still stuck on it as TPC Blue Monster, as it was promoted a few years ago. Then again, to some it will be forever what it’s been known as since Billy Casper edged Paul Bondeson by a stroke in 1962, the Blue Monster.

The array of names is fitting, perhaps, given the way Friday played out in Round 2 of the WGC Cadillac Championship. Brutish as a beast to some, gentle as a lamb to others, and for a scene that summed up the warm day, consider the traffic that moved toward the scoring area just around dinner time.
