PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The upperclassmen on Furman’s golf team have endured more than what college golfers should have to go through.
That was the message Paladins coach Todd Satterfield imparted on his players at the recent John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club.
The site proved fitting. Two years ago, the Paladins were here at Sawgrass when they got news that their program had been restored. Two weeks before the 2014 Hayt, administrators at Furman, a 2,700-student school in Greenville, S.C., announced that the program would be disbanded after the spring season. Donors, alumni and Furman golf supporters reacted swiftly.
