A a dramatic two-shot swing on the final hole of the tournament decided the Saguaro Amateur on Wednesday.
Wes Artac birdied the 18th hole at Southern Dunes Golf Club, and when leader Nick Hardy bogeyed the same hole, Artac emerged as the one-shot champion. The closing birdie was Artac's fifth of the day in a closing 1-under 71.
The Texas Tech sophomore had a solid first year with the Red Raiders, posting a pair of top tens in 10 college starts. But the Saguaro Amateur, played in Maricopa, Ariz., was actually Artac's first event since early September, as he had been shelved by injury.
