Armstrong wins shortened Dogwood Invitational

Final scores

Dawson Armstrong reached the final hole of the Dogwood Invitational with a one-stroke lead, knowing that he went bogey-par at the 18th in the event's previous two rounds.

But Armstrong bucked the trend, making birdie at the final hole to surge to a two-shot victory at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta.

Armstrong, a rising sophomore at Lipscomb from Brentwood, Tenn., beat out Ashton Van Horne to take the title in the 54-hole event – Round 3 was cancelled due to inclement weather. Armstrong finished with a 5-under 67 Saturday, making three birdies in a row from Nos.
