David Bradshaw on Friday very nearly won the fans around the 18th green $1,000 each with an almost-ace from 178 yards. Bradshaw’s ball landed short of the hole, bounced twice, lipped out, and came to rest 21 inches from the hole.
The Greenbrier resort owner Jim Justice is handing out escalating amounts of money to fans seated in the grandstands at the par-3 18th who witness a hole-in-one.
He doled out $100 each and $18,900 in total after George McNeill's ace Thursday and then $500 each and $173,500 in total after Justin Thomas' later in the day.
