PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Rickie Fowler entered the weekend at the Honda Classic leading by one shot over Jimmy Walker.
With two rounds to play over a difficult golf course, the weekend wasn’t guaranteed to be a coronation for the 27-year-old, but it was expected that Fowler would not play his way out of a chance to win.
But after a third-round 4-over 74, Fowler did exactly that.
Five shots back of eventual winner Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia, who sat at 9 under on Saturday night, Fowler needed a superior round Sunday to catch and potentially pass the duo.
