Perhaps we should have listened to Jordan Spieth.
The Texan spent the whole week at the AT&T Byron Nelson explaining that his game wasn’t there, but he remained near the top of the leaderboard in front of hometown fans all the same.
On Sunday, though, the smoke-and-mirror show finally gave out as Spieth ballooned to a closing 74 that at times seemed even uglier than the score indicated. The two-way miss continued to plague him, and Spieth was unable to salvage his round on the greens as he so often has in the past.
