Add the 2020 British Open to the list of sporting events that have been drastically impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The major tournament, originally scheduled for July 16-19 at Royal St. George's Golf Club, was cancelled on Monday, the R&A announced (via Sky Sports).

The announcement also noted the event will be played in July of 2021.

This is not particularly surprising considering Joel Beal and Brian Wacker of Golf Digest cited a source on April 1 who said the tournament was expected to be canceled.
