Warriors Weekly: Golden State Ready To Ring In The New Year

The Golden State Warriors continue to pace the NBA field after two wins this past week, moving to an eye-popping 28-1 on the season. Let's get you caught up and get you prepped for the week ahead with our Warriors Weekly update.

This Past Week

The Warriors made the most of a light holiday week, dispatching the Utah Jazz in relatively tidy fashion (103-85) on Wednesday before gutting up and taking down the Cleveland Cavs (89-83) in a much-hyped Christmas Day matchup at Oracle.

It was a tale of two very different games this week, as Golden State ran through the Jazz in trademark fashion -- outscoring them 28-2 in transition to offset some solid work by Utah in the paint. The Warriors were also perfect from the charity stripe, letting very few opportunities go to waste.

On Xmas, the Warriors made up for their worst offensive performance at home in quite some time by holding the Cavs to just 31.6% shooting from the field and 16.7% accuracy from beyond the arc. Cleveland blanketed Golden State's shooters on defense enough to stay in it, but the Warriors showed themselves capable of winning a high-pressure game without the offense firing on all cylinders.

Coming Up

The Warriors host the Sacramento Kings (12-17) on Monday before heading out to the Lone Star State for a Texas two-step against the Dallas Mavericks (17-13) and Houston Rockets. Those games come on a back-to-back, Wednesday and Thursday (New Year's Eve).

After a tough two-day grind against two 2015 playoff teams, the Warriors head home to take on a Denver Nuggets team (12-18) on Saturday that has struggled scoring the basketball for weeks now after a solid start to the 2015-16 season.

Promotions

Join the Warriors on Saturday, January 2nd for Slate Jersey Night. The Warriors will sport their slate alternate jerseys against the Nuggets in what should be a very exciting night at Oracle. It'll also be CYO Night, with CYO teams receiving special savings and access to unique experiences, including an on-court free throw.

Injuries

Stephen Curry has a banged-up calf that the team will continue to monitor this week. He should be good to go for the team's game against the Kings.

Leandro Barbosa will miss Monday's game against the Kings with what's being termed as a shoulder sprain.

Harrison Barnes is doubtful for Monday as he continues to rehab an ankle injury. Monday was listed as a potential return date, but that appears less likely 24 hours out from tipoff.
