Warriors Weekly: Golden State Currently Riding An Epic Winning Streak

The Golden State Warriors' 24-game winning streak to start the 2015-16 NBA season is a league record, but the way the team has played against top competition during its current run of wins may be just as impressive. We'll have more on that in our Warriors Weekly update.

Looking Back

The Warriors have scored 120 points or more in all five games of their current winning streak -- the first team to do so since the Charles Barkley-led Phoenix Suns back in February of 1993. What's even more eye-popping is the level of competition they've schooled during this stretch. Golden State has hammered Cleveland by 34 (132-98), Chicago by 31 (125-94) and San Antonio by 30 in three of their five wins. That's an insane string of blowouts against three teams that are on the NBA Finals radar here in late January. More Warriors news and rumors inside our Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps!

Golden State also has a 12-point win over Indiana (122-110) and 20-point drubbing of Dallas (127-107) to lean back on, making for five straight victories over five teams who'd be playoff-bound if the season ended today.

Looking Ahead

Stephen Curry's streak of 11 games with 25 points or more ended with a 14-point outing against Dallas on Wednesday, but he seems predestined to get back in the scoring saddle in Saturday's road game at woeful Philadelphia (7-40). Philly has played better as of late, alternating wins and losses over their past six, but they're still extremely shallow from a depth chart perspective.

The Warriors will head to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks (22-25) in the second game of a back-to-back on Sunday. New York has lost three straight since climbing back to .500, including their latest 128-122 home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Golden State will finish off their three-game East Coast road swing in D.C. on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards (20-23). Washington has been dominated on the board all year long, ranking 30th in the NBA with just 40 rebounds per game.

Injuries

Center Festus Ezeli was inactive Wednesday against Dallas with a knee injury. His status for Saturday's game in Philly remains in question.

James Michael McAdoo remains sidelined with a toe injury. Golden State's game against the Mavericks marks the 10th straight contest that he's sat out.
