On Tuesday, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and newly hired Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers appeared in an ad for The Lincoln Project, denouncing President Donald Trump and reiterating their support for Joe Biden. On Thursday, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did the same.
The political stances of Kerr, Rivers and Popovich aren't a surprise to anyone; all three coaches have been outspoken for years. Rivers in particular was a respected voice among his NBA peers in the Disney Bubble.
And that makes their collective decision to appear in ads for The Lincoln Project confounding.
