Warriors reach into past to honor their banner-raising present

The Warriors brought in a representative from each of the three prior Warriors championships for their ring ceremony. Rick Barry represented the 1974-75 Warriors and Howie Dallmar Jr. stood in for his late father Howie Dallmar, the former Stanford head basketball coach who played for the Philadelphia Warriors title team that won the inaugural 1946-47 championship.

Perhaps the most intriguing invitee, however, was Walt Davis, who played for the 1955-56 Warriors champions — also in Philadelphia -- and had never been to a game in Oakland. A Texas native, he's a Houston Rockets fan.Davis was a backup center for the Warriors on a team that included three future Hall of Famers -- Paul Arizin, Neil Johnston and Tom Gola.
