Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob raised some eyebrows in July when he stated the team intends to retire the jersey number of the recently departed Kevin Durant.
Despite some fan discontent, Lacob maintains he still plans to retire Durant's No. 35.
"The intention is to retire his number, but we specifically said it that way, for now," Lacob recently told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami. "Because he's still playing, it's kind of inappropriate to some extent to say you're gonna retire his number when he's still playing in the league, but that's the intention.
