Draymond Green’s case for NBA Defensive Player of the Year got its most notable co-sign on Thursday when Hall of Famer Reggie Miller campaigned for the Warriors player on a nationally televised broadcast.
The Golden State veteran’s candidacy first came up during the TNT broadcast of Warriors-Lakers early in the second half, after Green deflected a Lakers pass into the crowd while Los Angeles tried to set up its offense. The move caused play-by-play announcer Kevin Harlan to prompt Miller with, “Boy, is he having some kind of defensive season.”
Miller replied: “In my opinion, he is the defensive player of the year.
