Warriors’ decision to play without fans could set example for the NBA

SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors will play Thursday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets without any fans at Chase Center, becoming the first NBA team to play without a crowd. It is a landmark decision that could set the tone for how the rest of the league handles the coronavirus pandemic.

“As San Francisco has really been the first domino to fall here, I think there is a lot of speculation that other cities will look at what San Francisco is doing,” Warriors president and COO Rick Welts said. “We potentially could have other NBA cities affected the way we are in the not-too-distant future.
