The Golden State Warriors raised their 2014-15 NBA championship banner prior to Tuesday's 2015-16 season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Doors to the Larry O'Brien Trophy bearers' home court opened at 5:30 p.m. local time, per NBA.com, approximately two hours before scheduled tipoff so fans could settle in and bear witness to the historic spectacle.
The Warriors' Twitter account had the money shot of the championship banner being unveiled as the team reacted:

But there were numerous events that took place leading to that moment—not only on Tuesday evening, but over the past 365 days or so—that are worth documenting as well.
