The Steph Game (Warriors 107, Celtics 97)

In modern sports discourse, the fastest way to profitability is what many call the “hot take economy.” Without naming names, there are a whole cadre of pundits who literally make a (highly lucrative) living by spewing takes of questionable quality onto all of the usual distribution channels, be they print, TV, radio, or social media (or all of the above). Many of these takes are known garbage, but the one that I’m going to spend some time deconstructing tonight is this notion that Steph is some short of shrinking violet in the NBA Finals. Somehow, the lack of an NBA Finals MVP trophy (he was more than deserving in 2015, and was doubled into oblivion in 2017 and 2018 by Ty Lue), the blown 3-1 lead in 2016, and some high-profile stinkers on the biggest stage have given the haters enough fuel to sustain themselves.
