The SF bar that's uniquely affected by Klay's Warriors free agency drama

If Klay Thompson leaves the Golden State Warriors, his departure will have a profound impact on Arvind Patel.

“He’s not going to leave,” Patel told SFGATE in an interview Wednesday. “We refuse to have him leave. We’ll subsidize his package.”

Patel feels so strongly because he is the owner of two conjoining businesses along the San Francisco Bay: restaurant the Ramp and San Francisco Boatworks, a full-service boat repair yard. Born and raised in Zanzibar but now a Bay Area resident for more than 40 years, the 77-year-old was in the middle of a successful career in Silicon Valley when he became a partner in bayfront businesses alongside his friend, and the business’s original owner, Michael Denman.
