The best records in sports don't end in championships

Last night, when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship and ended the Golden State Warriors historic season without a title, the Warriors became the fourth major North American professional sports team (and fifth team overall) that holds the regular-season wins record without winning a title that season.

The Red Wings set an NHL record by winning 62 of 82 games in the 1995-96 season, finishing with 27 more points than the 2nd-place team in the West. But when it came playoff time, the Wings made it to the Western Conference Finals before losing to the Avalanche in six games.
