Purdy: Kevin Durant is on track to be better than he was in Rio

OAKLAND — Last summer in Brazil at the Olympics, I watched as Kevin Durant proved he was the best player on the world’s best basketball team. Thursday, for stretches, he looked even better than that.

This is a good thing for the Warriors, who merely want to be the best team in the NBA.

Right now, Draymond Green is the most indispensable Warrior because of all the different elements he brings to the court. But as the playoffs move along and the games get tighter, the shooters and the scorers will be the deciders. That would be Steph Curry and Klay Thompson — and Durant.
