Young, known more as the butt of jokes and for his curious shot selection than his winning ways, took the declaration as a stepping stone to one of the best seasons of his career. He averaged 13.2 points per game while shooting a career-high 40 percent from 3-point range, and routinely guarded the other team’s best player.
