After the Golden State Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the Detroit Pistons on a Saddiq Bey heave at the buzzer, I thought brighter times were ahead. After all, the team was playing incredibly shorthanded and had opened 5-1 on a key homestand that saw them tread water while Stephen Curry nursed his injured left shoulder. Even a sobering loss to the Magic couldn’t torpedo my confidence. And with the Suns dropping below them in the standings and coming to Chase Center in the middle of generational rain without Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, Cam Johnson, Landry Shamet, on paper you expected the Warriors to be competitive…and that was before it was announced that Stephen Curry would make his return a bit early (and give his brother-in-law Damion Lee his championship ring too).
Lackadaisical (Warriors 113, Suns 125)
