Hubris (Warriors 99, Kings 118)

If not hubris, what else can you call the Golden State Warriors’ attitude heading into this afternoon’s critical matchup in Game 6 of this hotly contested first round series? The Sacramento Kings have proved worthy opponents time and again this series, and yet it appears the Warriors somehow expected them to lay down and die in a do-or-die game on the road. The Kings scoffed at that notion and destroyed the Warriors at Chase Center. Buoyed by an aggressive mindset, brilliant (again) performances from De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk, and bold coaching tweaks from Mike Brown, they took the fight to the defending champs, who were the first team on the ropes and the first team to fold.
