It’s official. The coronavirus is impacting the spectator sport experience.
The NBA has reached out to its franchises in a memo, ESPN reported. “The coronavirus remains a situation with the potential to change rapidly,” the memo read in part.

The NBA is, literally, on the front lines of this crisis. Other athletes — baseball, football, hockey — have clear boundaries that separate athletes from fans. But NBA athletes and coaches are within reach of the front-row patrons and the fans who endeavor to shake hands or slap high fives with players as they thread their way through the stands to the locker room.
