ESPN's Richard Jefferson says Warriors 'might have needed' Dejan Milojevic's death, defends message

NBA broadcaster Richard Jefferson announced on social media that he is standing by the controversial comments he made about the death of Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic.

In the first quarter of Wednesday’s Warriors-Clippers game on ESPN, Jefferson spoke about the late Golden State coach, who died after suffering a heart attack during a team dinner in January. After noting the jersey patches and on-court logos featuring Milojevic’s initials, Jefferson then veered into how the moment likely affected the team, with a bit of less-than-stellar speculation.

“These are things that, obviously, it can devastate to a group — and it was,” Jefferson began.
