D'Angelo Russell leaves Friday's game after spraining thumb

D'Angelo Russell left Friday night's game between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics after spraining his thumb. Russell left the game in the third quarter while holding his thumb.

After having it tended to on the bench, Russell headed to the locker room. The team announced that his thumb was sprained, and that the 2019 All-Star would not return.

It's Russell's second injury of the year. He already missed three games due to an ankle sprain.

With the Warriors already down Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevon Looney, Damion Lee, Jacob Evans III, and Alen Smailagic, Russell's injury could be debilitating.
