“Space Jam: A New Legacy,” the sequel/reboot nobody in their heart of hearts actually wanted, is poised to be a future classic of the burgeoning New Late Capitalism Wave genre. The relevant bit to us, the Golden State Warriors fans, is that this film marks the return of the people’s champ, aka Klay Thompson.
The Splash Brother hasn’t played in an NBA game since the heartbreaking agony of his ACL tear in the 2019 Finals. For grandiloquently sentimental reasons, it’ll be good to see him take the court once again. Granted, it’s an animated court, and he appears to be helping the forces of evil (or at least Big Tech), but even animated Evil Klay getting some reps will be a balm for the soul.
