Bay Area TV personality who stole Warriors official’s jacket loses job

Disgraced KGO-TV sports anchor Mike Shumann, who took a jacket belonging to a Warriors security official two weeks ago, announced his retirement on Friday.

The end of Shumann’s 24-year career comes a week after KGO said it was investigating an incident in San Antonio in which the former 49ers wide receiver was caught on video taking Warriors director of security Ralph Walker’s team jacket.

The 62-year-old Shumann, who was in the final year of his contract with the station, later admitted he took the jacket, but many Warriors players were upset that it took so long for the station to take action.
