Warriors' sloppy offense costs them Clippers game

In the second night of a back-to-back, the Golden State Warriors fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 115-126 on Thursday night. It was a tough loss for the young team after dominating their game on Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, which they eventually won by 31 points.

After having an astounding game the night before—scoring a career-high 38 points—Klay Thompson scored a mere 10 points in 38 minutes. Stephen Curry, although scoring a team-high 38 points, gave the Clippers multiple opportunities to take advantage in transition by turning the ball over 11 times.

It was a fast and aggressive game – Andrew Bogut and DeAndre Jordan exchanged shoves late in the second quarter resulting in a double technical—but Golden State’s 24 turnovers allowed the Clippers to pull ahead. Despite the final score, the Warriors didn’t have a bad game. Curry had 38 points and nine assists, Lee—who ended up fouling out—contributed with 22 points and six rebounds and Iguodala put up 14 points.

Those performances weren’t enough on a night the Warriors just didn’t take care of the ball. The Clippers simply played better. Chris Paul had an outstanding game with 42 points (one shy of his career high), 15 assists and six steals.

The Warriors will have time to rest before returning home for Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. They matched up with the Kings multiple times during preseason—winning one game and losing the other.

The Warriors will need to bring the energy that they exhibited during their season opener for Saturday night’s game.  It’s possible that Warriors SF/PF Harrison Barnes—who has been out due to a left foot inflammation—will appear for the first time since October 7 in Saturday’s game against the Kings.
