Warriors Rumors: 3 Free Agents Golden State Should Pursue Are...

The Golden State Warriors are on top of the basketball world after winning the title, and with a young roster, the Warriors look like they’re just entering a long championship window. They’re looking to free agency to continue improving their roster, starting with re-signing Draymond Green. Here are three other players they plan to pursue on the open market:

K.J. McDaniels, SG, Houston Rocketshi-res-83782c6b20e3d4866d6952e9874e4d4e_crop_north

McDaniels is one of the most promising young rookies in the league, but will be a free agent this offseason after signing just a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him in the second round. He’s already a good defender, and his elite athleticism will flourish in Golden State’s up-tempo system. McDaniels would be an immediate upgrade over Leandro Barbosa as Klay Thompson’s backup and has the potential to develop into one of the team’s top players.

Wilson Chandler, SF/PF, Denver Nuggets

Denver was pushing hard but failed to find a partner for Chandler at the trade deadline, and they probably won’t pick up his team option for next season as they try to rebuild their team. His long-range shooting ability (nearly two made threes a game) would open up driving lanes, though he is still effective on the boards (5.9 rpg). His versatility as a small-ball four would be great off the bench, and an upgrade over David Lee in the Warriors' system.

SF Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Dunleavy would fit right in to Golden State's three-point centric system, and would give them one of the league's best shooters coming off the bench. The downside is his lackluster defense, but the Warriors may pursue him if they can't land some of their top targets.
