Klay Thompson Ties NBA Season High With 52 Points, Including A Record 37 In The 3rd, In Warriors' Romp Over The Kings

Kevin Love who?

After being the subject of trade talks for the now-Cleveland Cavs big man this offseason, the newly-reupped Klay Thompson is paying major dividends for the NBA-best Golden State Warriors, tying an NBA season high with 52 points, including a league record 37 points in the 3rd quarter of Golden State's 126-101 win over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Thompson went into full video game mode in the 3rd quarter, scoring 37 of the team's 41 points to extend a five-point halftime lead to 24 after three, 97-73.

Thompson finished his brush with history shooting 64 percent from the floor (16-of-25), and an eye-popping 11-of-15 from downtown, while also dishing out five assists and grabbing two boards. That includes Thompson going a perfect 13-for-13 and 9-for-9 from three in his amazing 3rd quarter.

The next highest scorer in the game? Sacramento's Demarcus Cousins, who pitched in just over half of Thompson's output by leading the Kings with 28 points.

Thompson finished tied with Minnesota's Mo Williams (1/13 at Indiana) for the NBA's top individual scoring output on the season.
