The USC Trojans are expected to lose redshirt freshman cornerback Lamont Simmons to transfer. Ryan Abraham of Scout.com reported the story.
Simmons will now meet with university officials to discuss a release, and Abraham reports that Georgia Tech is a likely destination. Rutgers and North Carolina are also in the mix.
It’s a rough ending for Simmons’ time at USC, as he picked the Trojans on National Signing Day. Unfortunately, while he showed flashes of potential, he could not crack the starting or situational rotation and redshirted last season.
Now he’ll look to get a fresh start elsewhere, and USC should not have a problem letting him transfer, lest he decide he want to go to a Pac-12 program.
