It was a Sunday afternoon game that was within reach at many points for the Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball team, but South Carolina’s talent and shooting prowess eventually allowed them to pull away in San Antonio. The Gamecocks shot 57.1% from three-point range, and 56.4% overall, which defensively isn’t a great recipe for beating a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Jackets never gave up, with Lotta-Maj Lahtinen’s 20 points pacing the team. This season ends on a tough note, but it’s the farthest Tech has gone in the postseason since 2012 and shows that the Jackets can be contenders for years to come.
