The basketball team got some very good news yesterday afternoon as they prepared to take on Tennessee when Forward/Center James Banks was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA due to a medical hardship waiver. The Texas transfer is originally from the Atlanta area, and figures to significantly help the team this season. He played 16 minutes last night against Tennessee, scoring five points and grabbing seven rebounds.
The Georgia Tech men’s basketball team lost its road opener to Tennessee 66-53 last night, and offense was a struggle for most of the game. Brandon Alston led the way with 16 points on 4-8 shooting from the field and 8-8 shooting at the free throw line, but nobody else scored more than eight points.
