Tech came into their matchup against Miami looking to avoid a three-game losing streak. Miami came into the season with high expectations but came into the game with a 4-4 record. However, they were coming off of several weeks where they beat back-to-back ranked opponents. Miami’s quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, who has stepped in following starting quarterback D’Eriq King’s season-ending injury, had thrown for over 500 yards in his last game.
