With a strong shooting performance combined with some mistakes from their opposition, Georgia Tech led South Carolina 42-28 at halftime. That 14-point lead only grew in the final 20 minutes as the fourth-seeded Jackets led by as many as 31, as they rolled to an easy 17-point victory on the road against their region's 1-seed.
Georgia Tech was again led by its seniors, with Adam Smith taking the lead with 21 points. All of the Yellow Jackets' starters scored in double-digits, and Marcus Georges-Hunt approached a double-double with 14 points and 8 assists. As a team, Georgia Tech hit 51% of its field goals, including 50% from three-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line to boot.
