Georgia Tech has reported a minor violation by head coach Paul Johnson, who apparently made premature remarks regarding the status of incoming Stanford transfer Patrick Skov. ESPN’s Matt Fortuna reported the story, which was originally broken by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Per the report, Johnson announced Skov’s joining the program 30 minutes too early.
NCAA rules state that schools may not comment publicly on either unsigned recruits or transfers, only being allowed to say that they are indeed interested in a certain player. Georgia Tech classified Johnson’s actions as a Level III violation and the incident was settled with him attending a rules education session.
