Former Georgia Tech wide receiver DeAndre Smelter has been drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 33rd pick in the fourth round.
Smelter started his career at Tech on the baseball diamond, spending his first few years at Tech with the team before switching focus solely to football. Smelter officially joined the football team prior to the 2013 season and after spring and fall practices was named the starter at wide receiver.
He had a good year in 2013, but his numbers in 2014 far exceeded those from 2013.
