Georgia Tech got some exciting news today, when fourth-year quarterback Lucas Johnson announced that the NCAA had approved his waiver, granting him a sixth year of eligibility.
Johnson redshirted his first season before serving serving as TaQuon Marshall’s back-up two seasons ago, appearing in nine games and serving as the holder for field goals. There was some smoke on the idea that Johnson could have surpassed Marshall this past season, but unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury that caused him to miss the season. Now, with Marshall graduated and a new offense in place, Johnson is currently the front runner to be the new starting quarterback.
