Former Georgia Tech kicker was signed off the Carolina Panthers practice squad on Tuesday by the Kansas City Chiefs. Butker was originally the Panthers seventh-round draft pick in this NFLyear’s draft.
The former Yellow Jacket was signed by the Chiefs after the organization had to placekicker Cairo Santos on the injured reserve. Butker was signed to the Panthers squad following being cut from the team’s 53-man roster during their final cuts. Santos was 3-for-3 this season for the Chiefs and is widely considered one of the better kickers in the NFL.
Butker had an impressive preseason for the Panthers, hitting both field goal attempts while hitting all four extra point attempts.
