A former USC Trojan, Lamont Simmons saw his first action as a Georgia Tech football player in 2016 appearing in 13 games for the Yellow Jackets. In that first season, he had 19 total tackles, one forced fumble and three pass deflections. This past season, Simmons didn’t see the same amount of time on the field. The Jacksonville, Florida native appeared in 11 games and recorded just nine total tackles and had two pass deflections.
The highlight of the 2018 season for Simmons was on special teams. When Miami looked to start the second half of their game against the Jackets with a surprise onside kick, Simmons picked up the kick (which would’ve been too short) and ended up returning it untouched for a touchdown.
