Georgia Tech (3-1) found themselves in a battle with the North Texas Mean Green out of Conference USA on Saturday, but a strong effort from a freshman put the Jackets over the hump for a 63-49 win.
Freshman guard Jose Alvarado posted a career high 19-point effort, along with seven defensive rebounds. The Brooklyn native went seven-for-nine on field goals, two-for-for from beyond the arc and hit all three of his rebounds.
Another freshman made a big impact for Tech while three players serve suspensions, as Curtis Haywood II put up 15 points and snagged five total rebounds.
