The Wake Forest Demon Deacons (19-23, 10-11) came to Atlanta just as desperate for wins as the Jackets, since both were below .500 in ACC play and both had suffered sweeps last weekend – Wake at home by Clemson. The Deacons had managed to win their midweek game over Liberty. The Yellow Jackets were able to come away with the 7-0 victory behind the arm of Xzavion Curry.
Curry (6-2, 3.99) tried to get over his recent Friday struggles against junior RHP Griffin Roberts (4-3, 3.04), a top draft prospect and strikeout leader. Curry won the battle with a complete game shutout that was a one run nail biter until the Jackets broke it open late.
