Former Georgia Tech (and current Denver Broncos) WR Demaryius Thomas is an amazing story, in so many ways. Not the least of those ways is the story of his background.
Thomas's mother and grandmother have both been in federal prison on major drug charges since well before Thomas arrived at Georgia Tech -- his grandmother serving a life sentence, and his mother serving until 2017. News was released yesterday, however, that his mother will have her sentence commuted as one of 46 non-violent drug offenders pardoned by Barack Obama. In his pardon letter, the President included the following:
I am granting your application because you have demonstrated the potential to turn your life around.
