With the salary cap going up in 2016-17, this offseason and the following offseason seem to be the best times for opting out of your current deal if you are a NBA player with that option.
Thaddeus Young chose to exercise that option this offseason in hopes of getting a new deal with better pay , and maybe even a new team with championship aspiration.
But that may be easier said than done if Brooklyn makes Young an offer he can’t refuse.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Nets general manager Billy King is going to make a serious effort to keep Young in Brooklyn.
