LAFAYETTE, LA. – Georgia State junior Alysiah Whittaker and LaPorscha Wells finished 2-3 in the shot put to lead GSU on Day 2 the three-day Sun Belt Conference outdoor track and field championships on the campus of UL Lafayette.
Both Whittaker and Wells broke Wells’ existing school shot put record. Whittaker threw 16.30m (53-7 ¾) with Wells tossing 16.20m (53-1 ¾) to finish behind Arkansas State’s Erin Farmer, who threw the sixth-longest distance in the NCAA this year.
Whittaker, a junior from St. Louis, now holds two Georgia State school records as she owns the discus mark already.
