ATLANTA - LaPorscha Wells and Alysiah Whittaker are this week's Georgia State Student-Athletes of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Wells became the first thrower in Georgia State history to qualify for the NCAA Track and Field Championships last Thursday with a third-place finish in the hammer throw at the NCAA East Regionals in Lexington, Ky. Wells placed third in the hammer with a throw of 63.98m.
In the shot put on Saturday, Whittaker finished sixth with a throw of 16.74m. With the top-12 competitors advancing to Eugene, Whittaker became just the second thrower in GSU history to make it to the NCAA Finals, joining Wells.
