JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Neither LaPorscha Wells or Ravin Gilbert could advance in Friday’s Day 1 of the NCAA East Preliminaries on the campus of North Florida. Since both qualified for two events, they’ll try again over the next two days.
Wells, the junior from Augusta, Ga., finished 19th of the 48 qualified throwers with a heave of 57.30m (188-0) that was 1.5m from making the top 12 that advance on to the NCAA Championships in June in Eugene, Ore. Her throw of 57.30m was quite good, actually the fifth-best in school history, but since she owns the other four better throws it isn’t as noteworthy.
