Veteran Defense Shows Experience, Talent in Scrimmage

ATLANTA -- Georgia State enters the season with an experienced and talented defense that returns nine starters, and that unit was on display as the Panthers scrimmaged for the first time Saturday morning at the GSU Practice Complex.

GSU, coming off its first bowl berth, opens the season in less than three weeks, hosting Ball State on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.

The offense was able to move the ball at times, but the defense allowed just one touchdown. Newcomer Rogier Ten Lohuis booted two field goals of 28 and 39 yards, and freshman Barry Brown had one short field goal.
