ATLANTA -- Jack Thompson smashed three doubles and drove in three runs to lead Georgia State to an 8-5 victory over Fairmont State in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday at the GSU Baseball Complex. The Panthers (8-6) dropped Game 1, 2-1 in 10 innings.
The doubleheader with Fairmont State was a late addition to the schedule after the scheduled weekend series with Lafayette was cancelled at the last minute after a virus outbreak on the Lafayette campus left the Leopards unable to travel.
The altered schedule continues as Georgia State hosts Jackson State Sunday and Monday, both days at 2 p.
